Certified Organic!

A 2021 vintage with a Grenache imprint. The nose is fruity, a mixture of raspeberry, wild strawberry and red currant. We also perceive the typical scents of dark chocolate mixed with notes of morello chery and Kirch. The mouth is supple, round, with a nice sweetness underpinned by the aromas of fruit paste.

Blend: 65% Grenache , 20% Syrah & 15% Mourvèdre

  • The history
  • Situated in Mazan, ( Vaucluse County ) the Château la Croix des Pins boasts a micro climate from its ideal location between the Mont Ventoux and Les Dentelles de Montmirail in an area classified Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
  • Château la Croix des Pins, an estate full of history.
  • The history of the estate goes back to the 16th century after the prelate of the pontifical government,  had its headquarters in Carpentras. He built the bastide on a Tuscan-style, according to its origins. The religious character of the building is still present by its interior chapel dating from this period as well as the mighty pergola made from 40 pillars made from Crillon stone, leading to a spring flowing under a centenary oak,  favourable to prayer and meditation.

  • The Château la Croix des Pins was one of the first in the areas to obtain the "Organic" label in 1998.
  • Since the recovery...
  • Since 2010, a new team led by Jean-Pierre Valade, regain control of the vineyard. He gave a new life to the Château la Croix des Pins and seeks excellence in the elaboration of its wines. The vineyard as been restructured and new grape varieties were planted. An exceptional ageing cellar with barrels was created and new equipment as been installed to make selections and  separate different grape varieties to reach our goals.
  • Gigondas is one of the more famous "crus" of the Côtes du Rhône, Gigondas has a history of viticulture going back two thousand years.
  • The Southern Rhône region of Gigondas extends northwest from the notably jagged wall of mountains called the Dentelles di Montmirail, whose highest point climbs to about 2,600 feet. The region and its wines have much in common with the neighboring Chateauneuf-du-Pape except that the vineyards of Gigondas exist at higher elevation and its soils, comprised mainly of crumbled limestone from the Dentelles, often produce a more dense and robust Grenache-based red wine. The region has a history of fine winemaking, extending back to Roman times. But by the 20th century, Gigondas was merely lumped into the less distinct zone of Côtes du Rhône Villages. However, it was first among these satellite villages to earn its own appellation, which occurred in 1971.
  • Gigondas reds must be between 50 to 100% Grenache with Syrah and Mourvèdre comprising the bulk of the remainder of the blend. They tend express rustic flavors and aromas of wild blackberry, raspberry, fig, plum, as well as juniper, dried herbs, anise, smoke and river rock. The best are bold but balanced, and finish with impressively sexy and velvety tannins.

White Gigondas

  • White Gigondas was approveded in 2022 (2023 being the first vintage) with Clairette as the principal variety. This must make up at least 70 percent of any Gigondas white and 70 percent of any vineyard whose production is destined for Gigondas white. Clairette was given the spotlight after careful tastings and discussions, as it can retain freshness even at lower acidity levels in warmer vineyards.
  • Clairette can be supplemented by Bourboulenc, Clairette Rosé, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Marsanne, Piquepoul and/or Roussanne. Viognier and Ugni Blanc may also be used but these two may comprise no more than five percent of the final blend.
