Much more accessible and voluptuous than the 2021 the 2022 Jubilation By Colgin offers darker currants saddle leather savory flowers and spicy chocolaty notes. Based on 73% Cabernet Sauvignon 13% Merlot 10% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot from IX Estate Tychson Hill and Vine Hill Ranch aged 20 months in French oak it's medium to full-bodied round graceful and balanced with polished tannins and outstanding length. I love it today but see no reason it shouldn't keep for 15-20 years. Drink 2025-2045.

The 2022 Jubilation is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Aromatic and medium in body with captivating finesse the 2022 is seriously beautiful. I admire its precision inner perfume and energy. Bright, red-toned fruit blood orange spice and pomegranate are beautifully pushed forward. This is a fabulous effort made all the more notable by the challenges of the growing season. Colgin fans will want to check out the new Jubilation series wines that are blended from barrels that offer more early approachability relative to lots that are selected for the flagships and some purchased fruit from top sites in the valley. - By Antonio Galloni on November 2025
Winemaker Allison Tauziet Notes:
The 2022 vintage of Jubilation by Colgin Cellars is a Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend (with supporting varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot) sourced from the three hillside vineyards that define Colgin’s estate portfolio. After the blends of the single-vineyard wines are assembled, the winemaking team identifies select barrels that reflect the hallmark Colgin traits of perfume, freshness and minerality—but with a slightly more supple, earlier-drinking profile. The fruit is rigorously sorted, the vineyards managed with precision, and the winemaking follows a neo-classical path: gentle extraction, careful oak aging (typically French oak), attention to fine detail in the cellar.
The 2022 vintage offers intense fruits and pure mineral notes of stone and graphite with vivid aromas of black cherry, baking spices and savory herbs. On the palate the texture is sleek yet silky, the tannins refined and the profile lingering with subtle flavours of cocoa and licorice.
What makes the 2022 Jubilation by Colgin Cellars compelling is its blend of refinement and accessibility: it is crafted to be enjoyed in the nearer term (compared to ultra-long-age producers), yet with enough structural integrity to evolve well in the cellar. From the winery’s own description, Jubilation is “a wine ready to enjoy now, with the pedigree to age gracefully in the cellar.” Given the richness of the 2022 fruit, combined with the vineyard quality and winemaking pedigree, it is likely to reward cellaring for 10-15 years (or more) while also offering pleasure today with some decanting.
- The inaugural bottling of Jubilation from the 2016 vintage was released in late 2020.
- Colgin’s debut vintage of the Jubilation Red Blend is the acclaimed estate’s newest masterpiece. When it comes to recognizing fine art, Ann Colgin ranks among the world’s most equipped and knowledgeable. Her CV backs up her impressive career in the art world with an M.A. from NYU, a certificate from Sotheby’s Decorative Arts course, her previous role as the Director of Sotheby’s West Coast Wine Department, and her current seat on the Board of Los Angeles County Museum of Art. 1988 was a fateful year for Ann. It was the first time she attended Napa Valley’s Wine Auction, and she instantly fell in love with the valley. Ann hunted for a property to establish her wine estate from that trip on, using her keen eye to select a premier hillside vineyard site in 1996 where Colgin Cellars now calls home.
- Robert Parker would later describe this ethereal parcel by saying, “The IX Estate is as close to a viticultural nirvana as I have ever seen.” Since 1992, Colgin has acquired and re-established three hillside vineyards, including the IX Estate, Tychson Hill, and Cariad. They make a single vineyard designated wine for each that, in the last 30 years, has each garnered high esteem from around the world. For Colgin, their artistry is about creating wines with a distinct sense of place and doing so with passion, dedication, and love. Alison Tauziet has helped to craft these exceptional works of art since 2005 when she joined the team and has since grown with the team into her current role as Director of Winemaking. Even though the new vines from these re-plantings are not mature enough for single-vineyard designates, Ann & Alison found the fruit intriguing. Indeed, the young grapes were a “medium” worth exploring.
- The Colgin winery, completed in 2002, is located at the northern end of IX Estate vineyard on Pritchard Hill. Although within the St. Helena city limits, Pritchard hill is much closer to, and more closely aligned with eastern Oakville, just perched several hundred feet above it to the east. The yields are small on the hill, and the wines are concentrated and age worthy. These are some of the very best examples of mountain Cabernet in the US, hands down.
