The three parcels are located in the heart of the village with similar terroirs of deep red clays but with a layer of stones at 1.5 meters' depth. The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Selection Pre-Colombière contains 60% whole-bunch fruit, though it is difficult to discern on the nose, which is very well defined with touches of sous-bois/autumn leaves infusing the red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins. A finely chiseled Vosne-Romanée with impressive mineralité and tension toward the lightly spiced finish.

Three parcels at the centre of the village: Le Pré de la Folie, Aux Communes, La Colombière. Just over 1 ha (2.5 acres). 60% whole bunch. Barrel sample.Mid cherry red. Really pretty sweet red fruit on the nose, intense and bright. Ripe, sweet yet fresh. More savoury on the palate, rich in fruit, firmly textured – the tannins are compact and smooth. Builds to a more chewy finish but is balanced by the freshness of fruit and stems, which are not noticeable in the flavour, just in the freshness. (JH)
- Vosne-Romanée it's a small commune in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits district is well-known its elegantly balanced Pinot Noir. Originally named just Vosne, the village took the suffix Romanée in 1866 in honor of its most prized vineyard, La Romanée (most communes along the Côte d'Or did this between the mid 19th and early 20th Centuries). The Vosne-Romanée commune sites are divided between six individual climats: La Grand Rue, La Tâche, Richebourg, La Romanée, Romanée-Saint-Vivant and the most famous, Romanée-Conti. Despite this small surface area, Vosne-Romanée Grand Cru red wines are some of the most respected (and most expensive) in the world.
Gérard Mugneret is a wine producer based in the village of Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte de Nuits subregion of Burgundy. The winery produces a range of labels from vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and further afield. The estate practices organic and biodynamic farming and produces primarily Pinot Noir from regional, village, premier cru and grand cru vineyards.
In all, the estate's vineyard holdings span some 8.5 hectares (21 acres) across the Côte d'Or. This includes land in five premier cru sites: Les Gravains in Savigny-les-Beaune, Les Charmes in Chambolle-Musigny, Les Boudots in Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Les Brulées and Les Suchots in Vosne-Romanée. The estate's top bottling is from the Echézeaux Grand Cru vineyard.
Mugneret uses around 33 percent new French oak for barrel maturation, and up to 50 percent for some of the Premier Cru appellations. The wines age up to 18 months in barrel and are racked just once, then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Gérard Mugneret produces its regional Bourgogne AOC and Bourgogne Passetoutgrains wines without the use of new oak.
Although initially only produced for in-house consumption, the estate has also started commericalising a white wine, dubbed Du Blanc dans les Rouges. This wine is produced from a blend of Chardonnay, Aligoté, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Beurrot, all grown in a small plot to the east of the D974 road between Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée (although potentially in "Bourgogne" appellation territory, the blend composition means it is bottled as a Vin de France).
The Gérard Mugneret domaine was founded in the late 1960s by Gérard Mugneret's father, René – Gérard became the estate's vigneron in 1973. In 2005, Gérard's son Pascal joined the family business and now manages the estate.
