96-Points by Robert Parker, James Suckling & Wine Enthusiast.
- Practicing Biodynamic, Highly Allocated!
Blend of various vineyards on the site. Medium ruby-purple, the 2019 Pinot Noir San Andreas Fault is scented of cranberries, blackberries, forest floor and conifer, lemon peel and Angostura bitters. The light-bodied palate is delicate yet intense with a deep core of red fruit, a fine, powdery texture, seamless acidity and long finish. For lovers of Burgundy this is a killer wine to have in the mix.
- The San Andreas Fault Estate Pinot Noir is the flagship wine from Hirsch, and the wine that represents the summation of our complex vineyard. David Hirsch says if you drink only one of our wines this should be it. 100% estate, 100% Hirsch.
- Hirsch Vineyard is a Sonoma Coast wine producer, founded by David Hirsch in 1980. It produces a portfolio of wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
- Located on a ridge in Fort Ross, the estate overlooks the Pacific Ocean within the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA (American Viticultural Area). Here, cool wet winters and warm dry summers combined with elevations over 920 feet (280 metres) provide ideal terroir for viticulture.
- Although a small plot of vines were initially planted in 1980, the inugural vintage from the estate was not released until 2002. The portfolio heavily features Pinot Noir with the Hirsch 'San Andreas Fault' Estate Pinot Noir the flagship. Other notable wines from the variety include the limited edition 'West Ridge' and the 'Bohan-Dillon' produced in commemoration to the village wines of France.
