Dark-fruited, acid-driven, and built to age. Our Pinot Noirs are serious, structured, and savory, never soft or simple. They’re shaped by the marine sedimentary soils of Yamhill-Carlton and finished with intention, not indulgence.

"We work with two varietals, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. We don’t manipulate them to chase trends or fill shelves. We honor the land, the season, and the soul of the vineyard. We let the wines speak for themselves, not a formula or a flavor matrix. Our winemaking is guided by old-world philosophy. Native fermentation. Low intervention. Extended aging. No shortcuts. No over-extraction. No fruit bombs. We produce in limited quantities. Every bottle is crafted for the people who understand that less can be more, if what you’re making truly matters. Saker never submits wines for ratings. We believe wine should be about human experience, not numerical scores. Our wines are crafted by Maayan Koschitzky & Tyler Tennyson from vineyards within the Yamhill-Carlton & Eola-Amity Hills AVAs."

Maayan Koschitzky is a winemaker best known for his work in Napa Valley (especially through Atelier Melka) and for launching his own labels (notably La Pelle, and more recently Saker).

Quick background (Israel → Napa)

  • Born and raised in Israel, with an early path that included military service (described by Westwood Estate as nearly four years in the IDF as a paratrooper) and later a turn toward wine.

  • Wine Enthusiast’s “40 Under 40” profile says he made wine in Israel for more than half a decade, then moved to the U.S. in 2011 to work at Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle.

Career in Napa: Atelier Melka

  • He joined Atelier Melka in 2014 and is listed as Director of Winemaking on the firm’s site (and on several client-winery team pages).

  • Food & Wine describes him overseeing nearly 30 brands as part of that role (with most positioned at luxury price points).

Founder projects: La Pelle, Saker (and more)

  • La Pelle Wines: founded in 2016 with partners Miguel Luna and Pete Richmond, with an emphasis on terroir-driven wines.

  • Saker Wine (Willamette Valley, OR): the Saker site credits Koschitzky (with Tyler Tennyson) and describes a house style aimed at dark fruit + high acidity + structure + age-worthiness—not “soft” Pinot.

What people tend to highlight about his style

Across profiles and writeups, the recurring themes are:

  • Structure and acid lift / freshness (even in richer Napa varieties).

  • A “serious” framing: more about site expression and longevity than plush immediacy.
